Tension structures at the Intercity Railway Station Leipzig Airport

The platform areas on the Northern and Southern sides of the Intercity Railway Station Leipzig Airport received a tension structure roof of 40 fields. The lengths of the individual fields range between 14.00 and 21.50 meters, with a width from 4.50 to 11.00 meters.

The tension structure membrane which was made of Teflon-coated glass fabric was installed to the steel arches by using clamping tape. By tensing the guttural cables which is located at the center of the membrane surface, the membrane was brought to the desired shape.

A tension structure is a technology which reaches back to human history but uses most modern technology which we use in the space technology.
